Earlier this month, family insider Arthur Phoenix told WENN the superstar was in a bad way and should not be considering a 50-concert run in London, scheduled to start in July.

He insisted the concerts would not happen, stating, "Michael is not mentally, physically or spiritually ready for these shows. There's something missing in his soul... It's over! There are family members who feel the same way but they're afraid to speak."

Phoenix fears the pressure of the comeback and the upcoming shows have taken their toll on the 50 year old.

Oscars Double Up Best Films For 2010

The organisers of the Oscars have doubled up the Best Film category for next year's Academy Awards.

Ten movies will be shortlisted for the big prize at the 82nd Oscars in March.

Explaining the shift, Academy Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis says, "After more than six decades, the Academy is returning to some of its earlier roots, when a wider field competed for the top award of the year.

"The final outcome, of course, will be the same - one Best Picture winner - but the race to the finish line will feature 10, not just five, great movies from 2009."

An average of 10 films competed annually for the top prize for the first 16 years of the Oscars and the last classic to win gold after beating out nine other movies was Casablanca in 1943.

Ganis adds, "Having 10 Best Picture nominees is going allow Academy voters to recognise and include some of the fantastic movies that often show up in the other Oscar categories, but have been squeezed out of the race for the top prize."

Brothers Bloom

dupa tzeapa cu Geo-lobotomy, de la care am plecat dupa juma de ora partial lobotomizat si de faptul ca nu-mi mergea liftul ! am recuperat si Fratii Bloom, al doilea film al lui Rian Johnson dupa overated-ul Brick. Dar e clar ca baiatul apartine grupului de regizori care se trage din Harold si Maud si ceva Altman, PT Anderson, David O Russell si Wes Anderson. Extrem de ambitios si sofisticat, filmul este a brilliant failure, prea pretentios pentru its own good, dar old-fashioned, bine facut si cu aere de screwball comedy. Numai ca Brody pe post de victimizant intelectual existential escroc nu e Cary Grant si nici Johnson nu e Lubitsch sau Capra sau leo McCarey. Totusi ceva parfum se pastreaza, mai ales european, ce-o fi inteles americanii din film nu stiu si cum s-o fi luat de par fratele Weinstein habar n-am desi cam intuiesc la ce flop a fost filmul. Muzica de Nathan Johnson (follow this name) si cintece cool, de la Cat Stevens la Bob Dylan, locatii exotice care seamana a postcards from a holiday (Serbia & Muntenegru, Praga si la noi Peles si Constanta, ce nu-nteleg, de unde tendinta de a distruge monumete precum turnul castelui sau Pelesul ? which stands in New Jersey anyway), un cameo extins Robbie Coltrane cu aer de Peter Ustinov in Poirot si Topkapi, si Maximillian Schell as Diamond Dog, DD ! cu voce cavernoasa si look de pirat (Old Fagin vs Sean Connery). Narator, Ricky Jay ! Inspiratii din James Joyce si The Band. Un clasic minor cu sanse de a deveni film-cult!


Cum de nu a stiut in schimb nimeni ca Brody, Weisz, Ruffalo si Reiko au fost sa filmeze la noi, la Peles, coordonati de (din cite stiu eu) azi defunctul Kentauros ?

Român cu 1 kg de cocaină în stomac

ISTANBUL. Un român a fost arestat ieri pe Aeroportul Ataturk din Istanbul, după ce forţele de securitate au descoperit la controlul cu raze X că acesta avea ascuns în stomac un kilogram de cocaină, pe care intenţiona să-l introducă în Turcia, relatează agenţia Anatolia, potrivit Mediafax.

În urma controlului, s-a constatat că bărbatul, identificat drept Costel R., avea în stomac 85 de capsule de cocaină, pe care le cumpărase din Sao Paulo, Brazilia. Bărbatul a fost reţinut pentru presupusă implicare în trafic de droguri.
