Cine-concertul live Blüesferatü revine la Castelul Bran – 28 iunie 2025, ora 21:30
Nosferatu – Eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922), capodopera regizorului expresionist F.W.

Announced now. From Claude Lelouch's legendary Un homme et une femme (1966).
Pas un, mais deux ;) Un Homme. Une femme.
A man.
A woman.
A deserted beach.
A turbulent sky.
Intoxicating music.
A 3-month-old idea.
A 3-week shoot.
A 20-second scene.
Eternity lasts but a moment in the end.
It was 60 years ago. In 1965, two damaged beings played by Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant met, charmed each other, resisted, and finally twirled under Claude Lelouch's incandescent camera. The Palme d'or in Cannes in 1966, the two Oscars in Hollywood in 1967 and the dozens of awards around the world pale in comparison to this grandiose moment of tenderness, simplicity and beauty.
Because it is undoubtedly the 7th Art’s most famous embrace ("étreinte" in French, the anagram of "éternité"), because you can't separate a man and a woman who love each other, because you can't separate that Man from that Woman, the Festival de Cannes has chosen for the first time in its history to present a double official poster. A Man and a Woman. Side by side. Back together.
— He: When something’s not serious, we says it’s like a film. Why aren’t films taken seriously, do you think?
— She: Maybe because we only go to the cinema when all is going well?
— He: So you think we should go when all is going wrong?
— She: Why not?
During times that seem to want to separate, compartmentalize or subjugate, the Festival de Cannes wants to (re)unite; to bring bodies, hearts and souls closer together; to encourage freedom and portray movement in order to perpetuate it; to embody the whirlwind of life to celebrate it, again and again.
This man and this woman who both won awards in Cannes —Best Actor (Z, 1969), Best Actress (A Leap in the Dark (Salto nel vuoto), 1980)— are no more. These two posters also pay homage. Magnificent heroes of delicacy and seduction, Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant forever illuminate the film of our lives, like these two posters, whose colors express the intensity of a passionate love that triumphs over despair. This light no longer comes from the heavens, today troubled on all sides by dark clouds; it emerges from the radiant fusion of two beings who reconcile us with life.
Finally ! On April 4, the most expected album (in any sense, and for me in special) by Mike Scott's The Waterboys is out. I announced here on Jan. 8 2025.
What a Treat !!! 25 songs (you can find 'em all on Youtube here, spotify and other patforms), featuring an array of guests, from Steve Earle to Bruce Springsteen and Fiona Apple.
Vignetes about Golf (Hooper's latter passion), The Last Movie (his doomed film), Andy (Warhol), Michelle (Phillips), Frank Booth (from Blue Velvet), Terry Southern (who wrote Easy Rider), etc. Including a fake trailer for a biker movie, "Freaks on Wheels", a la Tarantino's latest films.
Post-modern, cool, eclectic, funky, groovy, mad -as Sir Dennis was ;) A wonderful heartfelt tribute, about the times and of Wild Pop Americana and one of True Legends of the Movieland (und more).
Jose Ramirez - 28 martie 2025, Rockstadt, Brasov, ora 20.00

It starts with Somewhere over the Rainbow, it goes into the Wicked
songs with the freakish Cynthia and Grande.
Conan O'Brian (hosting for the 1st time), is actually very good, natural with a good sense of
pacing. With a little help of Adam Sandler and John Lithgow. Then
surprise, he sings s a song, “I won't waste time”, featuring
dancers,
the sandworm from "Dune" on piano doing “chopsticks” and
Deadpool.
Robert Downey jr. presents supporting actor and the least
deserving guy gets it, Kieran, who is the same in life as in A Real
Pain, as in Succession, kinda same part. Nice speech tho, talking to
his wife.
He also looks like a young Kirk Douglas. Glowing eyes.
(commercial break #1)
Wow ! For Animation FLOW wins. Wonderful, Touching ! Lithuania
enters the Oscars. Great film, now in Romanian cinemas, go and see it
!!! Absolutely sensational, it beats Disney, Pixar and The Giant
Robot.
The short animated category I didn't follow. “In the Shadow of the Cypress” won. The two Iranian
directors are great ! They just landed in L.A. Three hours ago, they said.
(commercial break #2)
Costume design, no surprises there, Wicked, the first black person to win for costume design.
Another commercial break, # 3
Original script. Sean Baker wins his 1st Oscar for writing Anora. Adapted, Conclave. No surprises here.
Surely The Brutalist and The Substance and September 5 were better choices but I'm happy for Baker.
Commercial
break, # 4, man, there's more breaks than show...
June
Squibb and Scarlett Johansson present the makeup and hairstyling
award to The obvious The Substance.
Then
we get Halle Berry to let us know the Governer Ball's Awards (November 2024), from
Quincy Jones (posthumous) to the Bond producers of EON, Barbara Broccoli and
Michael G. Wilson (who gave a way bond to the sharks from Amazon :() -Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.
and
then we get a 007 tribute clip followed by a dance extravaganza with
a superb Margaret Qualley (as I said before, on her way in becoming
a A-lister, after OUATiH, Poor Things, Kinds of Kindness, The Substance, Drive-Away Dolls), in a red dress, then we get renditions of Live
and Let Die with Lisa , Diamonds are Forever with Doja Cat, Skyfall
with Raye, all in good taste, channeling the originals.
Commercial break, # 5
Nice
joke of Cinemastreams, Conan featuring Marty Scorsese.
And a
anniversary of Kill Bill puts Daryl Hannah on stage. She looks great,
presents the award for best Editing. Again, Sean Baker rocks (2nd
award !), Anora for editing ! Deservingly.
Divine takes the stage for the supporting actress award presentation. Zoe Saldana wins. Emilia Perez was here, will she win for International film too ?
Commercial break, # 6
Ben Stiller on stage with a joke stolen from SNL Vincent Price skit (& Peter Sellers & more), present the Production Design Award. Wicked". May the Biggest budget film win. And a film about architecture, nem...
Then on the sound of Sympathy for the...who ?, Sir Mick Jagger shows up. Best Song award. Making Bob jokes. El Mal from Emilia Perez win. Sorry, I couldn't care less. The nominations this year for song were awful.
Commercial break, # 7
Conan does the second Dune Sandworm joke, playing harp ! Sam Jackson (L.) and Selena Gomez (M.) present short documentary film. The Only Girl in the Orchestra wins. Feature: No Other Land. Political moment speech.

Ana de Armas and Sterling K. Brown present the last short award.
Morgan Freeman presents an homage to Gene Hackman. He played together in Unforgiven and Under Suspicion. That introduces the In Memoriam montage I had no clue Fred Roos and Adam Somner. died ..).

An actor presenter from each film nominated for Cinematography: Joe Alwyn for the Brutalist. Alba Rohrwacher salutes a Ed Lachman in a wheelchair for Maria. Willem Dafoe for Nosferatu, Zoe Saldana for Emilia Perez, Dave Bautista for Dune part 2. Lol Crawley wins for The Brutalist. Fair enuff.
Penelope Cruz presents for Best International Film. I'm Still Here/ Ainda Estou Aqui wins (Walter Salles, Brazil). Another big loss for EP, due to bad PR mostly.
Commercial break, # 10
Conan makes another Russian Joke via Anora. Mark Hamill (!!!) presents the award for best Original SCORE. Daniel Blumberg for The Brutalist. Well deserved for a Grand, epic score !
Whoopy and Oprah introduce a Quincy Jones musical tribute. Queen Latifah sings a song from The Wiz.
Commercial break, # 11
Conan: "If you still enjoying this show you have what it's called Stockholm Syndrome".
Cillian Murphy takes the stage for best actor award. He won last year for Oppenheimer. And...Adrian Brody wins his 2nd Oscar (22 years after 2003's The Pianist) for the part of architect László Tóth in The Brutalist !!! The most touching moment of the evening. Brody is entering a cool restricted club. Egészségedre !
Enter QT, Quentin iz in ze house ! Best director -ta-dam, Sean Baker for Anora ! His 3d Oscar, suddenly a small struggling indie director becomes a Monster Superstar in the biz. Phones will be ringing, snakes will be crawling, emails will be flowing, agents will be waltzing around & mirages will be presented to him but I have the feeling he won't sell out. Kudos !
Commercial break, # 12
Emma Stone (who won last year for Poor Things) presents Best Actress award. Aaaand surprise, Mikey Madison (Sadie in OUaTiH) wins !!! Anora's fourth Oscar ! Mikey is 25 !
Meg Ryan & Billy Crystal present Best Film. And Anora wins !!! Five Oscars out of Six ! Sean Baker is also co-producer so he gets his fifth award. Bravo !
And they even finished earlier this year ! Sorry for Demi, that was this edition surprise for me. 62 vs. 25. Baby Jane or All About Eve ? Again the SAG proof that no one guesses is perfect. The acting awards were again different from those of the guild. All in all it was a calm and cool edition with the most indie films in an Oscar race, two foreign directors, and wins for Anora 5, Brutalist 3.
LANCE LOPEZ is in town next Friday -25.10.24 !!!! The town of Brasov, that is The first gig of his new Tour, "Trouble is Good" !!! the band, same as in the video below.
Lance Lopez is a name that often comes up when discussing the greatest blues guitar players in the world. Mentored by ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, blues legend Johnny Winter, and Jimi Hendrix drummer Buddy Miles, Lance has an old soul and blues in his blood. He’s been a professional musician since the tender age of just 14 years old, being a member of Johnnie Taylor’s band as well as a member of the Buddy Miles Express. He has opened shows for icons like BB King, Steve Vai, and Jeff Beck, and played with greats like Eric Gales, Walter Trout, Warren Haynes, and dozens more. Lance has a new record out called Trouble Is Good on Cleopatra Records, and it features guests like Brian Tichy, Gregg Bissonette, and a bunch more.
Ozzy Osbourne was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame y-day in Cleveland, for the 2nd time, 1st as a member of Black Sabbath in 2016. Jack Black said his introduction, naming Ozzy "the jack Nicholson of rockn'roll". Various musicians played afterwards three songs (Crazy Train, No More Tears), featuring Chad Smith, Robert Trujillo, Zack Wylde, Billy Idol, Wolfgang Van Halen. Ozzy mentioned in his speech Randy Rhoads and his wife, Sharon.
Ozzy is 75 and retired, his last album to-date was the 2022, Patient no. 9.
Mithologically this is also based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived." Actually The History Man also appears in this one. Played by George Shevtov. And it's his voiceover.
The film is told in Five epic chapters, very different than all the other films. And it's basically about a Peach ;) Also it has an epic length, 2h28 min, which went so fast, I personally wished to be longer.
Fifth installment of the Mad Max Universe, born 45 years ago in Oz (Australia). As Mad Max: Fury Road happened in sequence, in 3 days and nights, this one happens over the timeline of 18 years.
Also Fury Road took over 20 years to be made and 15 years of changes in the script, this one took 9 years in the Max Universe, but much less in terms of development and production (Miller did his Three Thousand Years of Longing in the meanwhile). George Miller is 79 now, so even for his terrific shape, I would hold my fingers crossed for a Sixth film, as I guess both Furiosa and Max have ended their character arcs). Heard in a Miller interview he has also the story of Max's year before the events in Fury Road. I would love to see that, with Tom Hardy. There's even a page and a title for this (The Wasteland). Surely WB would milk this cow forever and there's comic books and so on, but this is Miller's verse and vision, and I don't think anyone can follow up. But this is not the issue at hand. Haters and detractors will go on about sloppy CGI (really????), 'Woman Power' concessions and length, but it's their loss (as it always is and will B.)
*
The casting of Anya Taylor Joy came into the production of Three Thousand and the pandemic and is due to Edgar Wright who showed Miller a rough cut of Last Night in Soho (playing now on netflix, stream it now !). It worried me at first but now, seeing the film I think she's great ! Great eyes, also very few lines, physical acting (she's got to drive a lot and the actrees didn't drive at all!)
Also it worried me a bit that Chris Hemsworth is given such a heavy burden, being a villain, a nemesis and a mad father figure (Dementus, aptly named). And he's great too. The Teddy Bear surely helps. And the makeup, Oh, what a nose (Charlton Heston's Ben Hur?). He plays like a cross between Peter O'Toole in Lawrence, a mad messianic biker in a chariot of bikes in a Roman swords & sandals epic, and every Mad Gary Oldman performance of your choice. "oh what a day, what a deal, what a day"...
And then there's Brit Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack, who played Orson Welles in Mank (my faved film of 2020), looking like a young Stacy Keach.
And a fabulous child Furiosa, played by Aussie Alyla Browne.
And Angus Sampson returns as The Organic Mechanic as John Howard does as The People Eater.
Plus Rictus Erectus is here again (Nathan Jones) ;) - and so is his bro, Scabrous Scrotus (Josh Helman), who played a different part in 2015's MM: FR.
"There were 264 women and men on that stunt department. One of the sequences took 79 days to shoot. Every day, you're subjected to bad weather, covid, and exhaustion. Our one priority, led by George, is not to injure anybody. The second is to make the film that we enjoyed" (producer Doug Mitchell)
***
The music score is a revision on Fury Road score, done also by Tom Holkenborg (formerly Junkie XL), more emotion and drama and a diggeridou. And a duduk (which gets it closer to the sound of Gladiator).
The cinematography in magnificent scope is by new zeelander Simon Duggan (Live Free or Die Hard, The Great Gatsby, Hacksaw Ridge), who took over from Aussie Johan Seale, who came out of retirement to make Fury Road (& then Longing).
Should I say something about the set design, costumes, art, the VFX, the stunts, the amazing craft. No. Just Kudos. Exceptional.
Miller wrote this with Nick Lathouris (same as Fury Road), but there are seven story contributors, including Action designer and 2nd unit director Guy Norris.
****
-The best prequel ever (Godfather 2 included !), no s*it...
As Mad Max: Fury Road (whose prequel to the key this is), is one of the best films ever made-and surely I have seen in this century and millennium !
Also helps it's Rated R.
*****
5 stars+=Eleven out of Ten -yes,this one goes to Eleven ;)
World Event du jour (16 mai 2024) -the world premiere of Francis Ford Coppola's MEGALOPOLIS (over 40 years in the making, and finally produced on his own dime-and 120 million $ of it !!!, sold half of his vineyards they say), at the 77th Festival de Cannes. Coppola is 85 now and won double time -deux fois la Palme d'Or, for The Conversation in 1974 and for Apocalypse Now in 1979 (ex aqueo with Schlondorff's Blechtrommel/The Tin Drum). Now he's nominated for a Third Palme (third time's a charm syndrome, well, Merde! :)
Great teaser for the film (or First Look clip) shattered the internet views 12 days ago, and then the trailer is on now, 2 days before the Cannes screening. French distributor is Le Pacte and I know for fact il will be distributed in Thaeters in Romania. Interesting enough, no US distributor yet, but surely this will be of passé composé demain ;) Update-yes, sold to Lionsgate immediately !
Cannes TV du 1er rang just showed the end of the screening, the applause and the ending photo call of Coppola and his family & Team. Adam Driver, the lead of the film, Talia Shire (Francis' sister), Aubrey Plaza, Nathalie Emmanuel, Laurence Fishburne, Giancarlo Esposito, Jon Voight (85 as well !!!) and a bearded almost unrecognizable Shia LaBeuf in Palais Lumiere and on the Red Carpet (here's the Red Carpet before the seance).
Here are the whole 22 mins of this Historical Event (yep, wish i was there...)
