and in the other news...Roger Avary un an de inchisoare !
From here we turn to another Hollywood celeb in trouble as Oscar-winning Pulp Fiction co-writer Roger Avary has been sentenced to one year in jail as a result of the 2008 car crash that killed a passenger in Avary's Mercedes in Ventura County. Authorities say Avary's car was traveling at more than 100 mph when it crashed into a telephone pole. Avary pleaded guilty in August to gross vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving.
don't ask why !
an in other news, Dennis Hopper a fost dus la spital la New York ! Get well dude sir man !!!

His jail sentence should last as long as the dead person is still dead. Once the dead person comes back to life, he should be released...not a minute before. People that drive drunk are LOSERS!

Luc Besson dixit..
re: Polanski's arrest...
“This is a man who I love a lot and know a little bit. Our daughters are good friends. But there is one justice, and that should be the same for everyone. I will let justice happen. I don’t have any opinion on this, but I have a daughter, 13 years old. And if she was violated, nothing would be the same, even 30 years later."

Use your imagination for something other than vicarious slathering over a taboo sex act and really ask yourself: "Why have I consented to let my 13-year old daughter hang around all by herself with a wily sybarite?"
He didn't do anything to any of the braying moralists, or, emphasis, anyone else, and the girl is now a grown woman well past it. The clear balance is in his favor. The hypocrite Puritans are wrong.
Polanski-Wanted and Desired-La Petition !!!

As of early today more than 100 entertainment industry professionals from Europe, Asia and the U.S. had signed a petition asking that Polanski be released. In a letter to the editor of Britain's Independent newspaper, Harvey Weinstein said that he plans to help circulate the petition. Moreover, he said, "I'm not too shy to go and talk to the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and to ask him once and for all to look at this." »
si mai multe detalii:
Pedro Almodovar, Walter Salles, Bertrand Tavernier and Fatih Akin are among the film-makers that have joined Harvey Weinstein in signing the petition calling for the release of Roman Polanski.
The petition has been launched by the Cinematheque Francaise, the Cannes Film Festival, SACD, the writer’s guild, ARP, the authors, directors and producers association, and Groupe 25 Images, which represents TV directors.
The petition, which is also supported by Wes Anderson and actress Tilda Swinton, states::
“We have learned the astonishing news of Roman Polanski’s arrest by the Swiss police on September 26th, upon arrival in Zurich (Switzerland) while on his way to a film festival where he was due to receive an award for his career in filmmaking.
His arrest follows an American arrest warrant dating from 1978 against the filmmaker, in a case of morals.
Film-makers in France, in Europe, in the United States and around the world are dismayed by this decision. It seems inadmissible to them that an international cultural event, paying homage to one of the greatest contemporary film-makers, is used by the police to apprehend him.
By their extraterritorial nature, film festivals the world over have always permitted works to be shown and for film-makers to present them freely and safely, even when certain States opposed this.
The arrest of Roman Polanski in a neutral country, where he assumed he could travel without hindrance, undermines this tradition: it opens the way for actions of which no-one can know the effects.
Roman Polanski is a French citizen, a renown and international artist now facing extradition. This extradition, if it takes place, will be heavy in consequences and will take away his freedom.
Film-makers, actors, producers and technicians - everyone involved in international filmmaking - want him to know that he has their support and friendship.
On September 16th, 2009, Mr. Charles Rivkin, the US Ambassador to France, received French artists and intellectuals at the embassy. He presented to them the new Minister Counselor for Public Affairs at the embassy, Ms Judith Baroody. In perfect French she lauded the Franco-American friendship and recommended the development of cultural relations between our two countries.
If only in the name of this friendship between our two countries, we demand the immediate release of Roman Polanski.”

Lawyers for Roman Polanski have filed a motion with the Swiss Criminal Court asking that he be released. The court said that it will issue a decision within the next few weeks. Herve Temime, Polanski's attorney, also said that the director plans to fight extradition to the U.S., a country that he fled 31 years ago after pleading guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Times columnist Patrick Goldstein observed Monday that Polanski's arrest comes at a time when federal authorities are demanding that California release 40,000 inmates because of prison overcrowding. "You'd hope that L.A. County prosecutors had better things to do than cause an international furor by hounding a film director for a 32-year-old sex crime, especially one that Polanski's victim wants to put behind her.

in schimb
The French government has retracted a public statement of support for Roman Polanski, saying that the 76-year-old "is neither above nor beneath the law".asta dupa ce, la inceput ministrul de externe a intervenit. Polanski are dubla cetatenie, poloneza si franceza (doar s-a nascut la Paris, de asta a si putut pleca din Polonia comunista!), viata lui continua sa fie un film...(sa-l joace oare Matthieu Amalric in biopic ?)
