pe blogul vechi am postat despre John Wayne la finalul carierei, pe cind avea cancer, in spoturile antitabac. -am pomenit si pe Yul Bryner. Dar nu am stiut ca starurile, si-n primul rind The Duke, au fost platite sa fumeze pe ecran. Rusine ! Cred ca Boogie (the real one) fuma totusi din convingere !

Hollywood Stars 'Paid To Smoke'

Acting veterans Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy and John Wayne were paid to promote smoking during Hollywood's "Golden Age", it has emerged.

The stars received huge cash sums from their film studios to advertise tobacco, according to researchers at the University of California at San Francisco.

One of the key documents uncovered by the researchers was a list of payments for a single year in the late 1930s detailing how much stars were paid by American Tobacco, the makers of Lucky Strike.

Actresses Carole Lombard, Barbara Stanwyck and Myrna Loy were handed $10,000 (GBP5,500) - equal to around $150,000 (GBP83,300) in modern money - to endorse the brand.

American Tobacco also sponsored The Jack Benny Show from the mid-1940s to the mid-1950s.

The authors of the study conclude the deals led to a rise in the number of young people who took up smoking in that era.

AC/DC still kicks ass !!! am ascultat deaj 2 piese, R 'n R train suna ca Runaway Train si War Machine care e si mai rooock !!! De-abia astept sa-i vad din nou la anul (3d time baby, dupa 1991 si 2001 !!!!, deocamdata turneul sold out a inceput in SUA !!!!

Alan Moore despre Watchmen si univers

un articol fascinant in LA Times, intitulat Hero Complex, in care Moore se plinge de studiouri, de filme si de conditia artistului. Si de faptul ca astazi comicsurile sunt simple storyboarduri la filme. Un documentar va apraea pe dvd, intitulat Into the Mindscape of Alan Moore, sure would like to see that soon....


"There are three or four companies now that exist for the sole purpose of creating not comics, but storyboards for films. It may be true that the only reason the comic book industry now exists is for this purpose, to create characters for movies, board games and other types of merchandise. Comics are just a sort of pumpkin patch growing franchises that might be profitable for the ailing movie industry."

sunt sigur ca Zack Snyder nu se prea bucura dar Watchmen e un proiect blestemat, pentru ca dificil mi se pare un termen low, de cind l-au antamat pe Terry Gilliam la inceputul anilor 90 si a vrut sa-l faca serie TV. Interesnt si ce spune de Eisner si Citizen Kane, mai ales acum cind Spirit iese, bricolat de Frank Miller.

si a fost Leonard Cohen. La multi ani i-am cintat la fel ca multi altii, aseara pe stadionul de linga Minastirea Casin si Arcul de triumf. Nu stiu de ce m-am simtit in Grecia, nu la Bucuresti. Poate din cauza instrumentuelor de coarde gen Buzuki, sau a luminii, sau a bisericii din spate. Aventuri extraordinar de moronice, cind am intrat in Bucuresti concertul incepea. Am inteles ca multa lume a crezut la fel si s-a intrat la greu pe primele piese. A urmat o cursa no limits pina la concert, intrarea rapida si patrunderea in sectorul VIP. Not bad...am prins si ultimele 2 piese din prima parte, cu Anthem, Ring them bells, "there's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in." Am pierdut in schimb preferatele mele, The Future si Everybody Knows...A fost extrem de emotionant sa-l vad pe Cohen, I'm your old man... 74 de ani si verde si viu si real...cu palaria de personaj de film noir...Am aflat si sesul vietii din Tower of Song...“tudamdamdam-tudamdamdam”, don't stop! A fost concertul anului in Romania anul asta ! Piesa finala, cintata cel mai bluesy, The Gipsy's Wife, Take this Waltz, Sisters of Mercy, Closing Time !
