LMA Brian De Palma is 80 !!!!

Happy Birthday Maestro !  Auguri e Grazie !

I'm really sorry you did not get to make more subversive great stuff in the last decade, the 2010's and I really wanted to like Domino and Passion but we all know you lost the passion for 'em in the haf-way.

Sorry you did not get to do that Untouchables prequel and the movie about Howard Hughes and other projects close to your heart.

You guys over everywhere should see the De Palma doc for more insights on the timeless influence of BDP movies.

***And now that's this crap idea of another Scarface remake circling around who seems to come to fruition :(  a revisionist take by Luca Guagardino, who did a good job with Argento's Suspiria but Scarface as by De Palma 's 1983 is such a unique piece in time that no one can ever touch Pacino and Oliver Stone's  take on Montana on a mountain of coke and madness on the Moroder waltz. My piece on one of my favorite films here !

An article and interview with Guagardino from Venice on this here !

RIP Alan Parker

30 years ago he was my favourite director.  From Midight Express to Birdy, through The WALL into Angel Herat and Misssissippi Burning, with a touch of  Fame, Commitments and Bugsy Malone. Now mr. Alan Patker, Sir and CBE is no more :( He died Friday July 31st. He was 76.
His later career was not so interstting (Evita, Angela's Ashes, The Life of David Gale) and he stopped making films since 2003.  A hugely influentaial filmmaker, if only for Pink Floyd's The Wall, which he said about that MTV should give hima dollar for every shot and cut they stole from , he would be a billionaire. Good night, sweet prince , or as Birdy said, ¬What ?¬. I hope you have a nice cosy seat in the Midnight Express...

The Rolling Stones- Criss Cross (SOTD)

A real treat !!! A track hidden for 47 years is out ! and it's areal gem, the great video highlights the wildness, sexuality and freedom spirit of the song !
***
Criss Cross is one of the three unreleased Rolling Stones track that was supposed to be included in their 1973 album, Goats Head Soup. The song was officially released on July 9, 2020 along with its music video directed by Diana Kunst, featuring the model GuindillaOntanaya.

The nearly five-minute montage is described as “a video diary” by Kunst. It was recorded between 2015 and 2020.
