Starship Troopers (noul DVD Blue Ray)

unul din cel mai blamate filme cind a aparut si un formidabil flop, dar de atunci considerat super-subversiv si film cult instant, am revazut de curind pe Blue ray Hollow Man si indiferent cit de tare ma deranjeaza ultimele 15 minute stiu ca Verhoeven n-a mai putut face nimic pentru a a apara proiectul, si asa are ca protagonist un uber bad guy, violent, sociopat si obesdat sexual...
dar ma gindesc cum a fost cind in 1997 a vindut conceptul de Beverly Hills 91125 sau ce numeral o fi, pentru a crea premonitorii nazisti americani, atit de valabili dupa 11 septembrie.
iata un citat extrem de intresant, instructiv si actual din cronica de DVD de pe Dvd savant:
"Starship Troopers has taken on a new life post- 9/11, with extremist claims that a secret government conspiracy purposely made the World Trade Center Towers fall. That irrational notion is prefigured in Troopers by the suspicion that the Bugs really can't shoot meteors all the way to Earth, and that the meteor that destroys Buenos Aires was actually launched by the Federation to justify its all-out assault on the Bugs. No outright evidence in the movie supports this, although the vast distance between here and Klendathu (Federation ships go into hyperspace to make the trip) makes Bug-launched meteors seem impossible. With writer Ed Neumeier involved, there's little doubt that the suggestion of a faked Bug attack was intentional. The Brain Bugs treat their millions of Bug warriors as expendable, a philosophy shared by our own corporate powers with their "human resources" policies."

Stiu ca doiul la Troopers e un gunoi dar se pare ca treiul (Starship Troopers 3: Marauder) ar putea fi cel putin interesant si cu siguranta peste dezamagitorul Mutant Chronicles.

Transsiberian

Transsiberian e noul thriller de Brad Anderson, pe care n-o sa-l vedeti la noi in cinematografe. Produs de Filmax, la fel ca anteriorul succes arthouse al lui Anderson, Masinistul (si interesantul The Kovak Box al lui Daniel Monzon), filmul a avut premiera la Sundance pe 18 ianuarie 2008.

Scris de Anderson alaturi de Will Conroy, thrillerul dramatic se petrece in trenul Trans-Siberian Railway, care face o saptamina de la Bejing in China la Moscova. Am vrut si eu sa merg cu el dupa aventura Matrioska dar a cazut planul. Filmat in mare parte in Vilnius, Lithuania (din decembrie 2006), cu scene in Beijing si Rusia, Transsiberian are o distributie eclectica: un cuplu de americani (Emily Mortimer, Woody Harrelson), spaniolul backpacker Carlos (Eduardo Noriega)si prietena lui Ann (Kate Mara, si politistii rusi Ben Kingsley si Thomas Kretschmann. Ma asteptam la altceva in plot dar filmul e mult mai dramatic si creste de la jumatate. O viziune destul de intunecata si personaje complexe si cu flaws, atmosfera excelenta, cu tot cu gimmickul fotografiiilor, un thriller mai old-fashioned in care nu exista mobile si gadgeturi tehnologice, si in care trenul si ninsoarea sunt elementele principale, transformate in personaje. Ben Kingsley mult mai bun decit de obicei, de la accent la modul cum si-a compus personajul, extrem de slavizat.

si textul pentru deslusirea mai bună a mesajului, desi uite ce spune Hetfield: iar Kirk Hammett si Ulrich aproba: "the concept of the video deals with humanity and the relationships between human beings and how your basic sense of humanity can override any sort of politicized situation."

The Major and the Minor

finalmente am reusit sa vad singurul film de Billy Wilder pe care nu-l vazusem si il vinam de prin 1996 (primul film facut in America in 1942 dupa ce regizase in Franta Mauvaise Graine-pe care inca-l mai am de recuperat).
Calamburul din titlu e excelent, Ray Milland , despre care scriam la postul cu X (intre timp am facut rost si de acest film) e maiorul iar Ginger Rogers (extrem de sexy), seamana cu Melanie Griffith un pic, e minora, aidca fata care nevind bani de bilet se da minora ca sa primeasca bilet la jumate. de aici se leaga o gramada de incurcaturi/ O mica Lolita a la Wilder, comedie romantica pe tiparul Lubitsch. Un film despre care mi-a povestit prima data Nae Caranfil la Catalin acum enspe mii de ani (adica peste 10) Culmea e ca a fost facut remake dar cu Dean Martin si Jerry Lewis (You're Never Too Young, 1955). Initial o piesa de teatru de Edward Childs Carpenter modificata de Wilder si Charles Brackett. In cartea lui Cameron Crowe, "Conversatii cu Billy Wilder", BW nu spune mare lucru despre film decit ca si-a asigurat un sure hit pentru debut, lasind subiectele mai intunecate pentru mai tirziu. Dar mentioneaza subtextul Lolita surizind enigmatic. Tag-ul la lansare: "Is She A Kid - Or Is She Kidding?"
