Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 2

Guradians Vol. 2 is out ! and it's gonna sell a lot of records ! Or just make more people listen to some great songs ! loved the teaser poster in which they all look like a punk group esp. due to Michael Rooker (Tandu)'s electric mohawk ! actually I think it's a riff on the Ramones cover of Rocket to Russia !

 The film itself is funnier and more emotional than the 1st one (though overlong) and has the ELO song "Mr. Blue Sky" as the 1st one was supposed to have "living Thing". I'm glad Jeff Lyne is getting more consideration, after American Hustle where he actually had also original songs...then Sweet and Fleetwood Mac, Cheap Trick (more of a rocking approech) a and a very touchy Father and Son -Cat before he was Yusuf...better choice of songs than the 1st one !!!  Baby Groot dances exquisetly and Kurt Russell is great as EGO ! To be seen on the Big screen (IMAX if possible) ! We Are Groot !!!

A new body horror in 1st film from German director Norbert Keil is my 1st movie at BIFFF 35 *(in competition}, a stylish dramatic viral love story that has to do with the fear and doom of aging. Richard Stanley (Hardwire, Dust Devil) contributes to creepy, slick script. Rebecca Forsythe is in the lead role, an amnesiac with a recurring mummyskinlike eczema that can be cured by new fresh skin and flesh.

Shades of Repulsion, Croneberg themes, N W Refn's Neon Demon, The Hunger,  photographic inspiration from Dario Argento by dop Tim Kuhn with a very low budget, atmospheric music reminiscent of John Carpenter's The Thing, Halloween, plus stylish piano works a la Hunger, Satie's Gimnosfere and Chopin.  Veteran horror queen Barbara Crampton (Re-animator)  is supporting as doctor Crober.

Jonathan Demme RIP

The Silence of the Lambs: Joanthan Demme is no more :(
73 years old -cancer-seemed younger, a man who started directing for Roger Corman (still alive at 90 !) -Caged Heat -1974, Crazy Mama-1975-and then went to Oscar respect with Philadelphia.
My faved flicks of his: Last Embrace, The Manchurian Candidate, Something Wild, Melvin and Howard and surely LAMBS (Oscar for best director in 1992).
Directed rockumentaries, Stop Making Sense -Talking Heads, Heart of Gold-Neil Young,. so forth.
Lasst film, Ricki and the Flash, in 2015.
His nephew, director Ted Demme  (Blow, The Ref) died in 2002 at 38 !
RIP !

Jack is 80 !!!

Mr.Jack Torrance, Jake Gittes, Melvin Udall, George Hanson, Randle P.McMurphy, colonel Jessup, Schmidt, The Passenger, The Joker,  and maybe soon Toni Erdmann ? oh yeah, Jack Nichoson is 80 to-day ! Happy Birthday Jack !!! Here's to ya -the hair of the dogs that bite me still !!!
