Most Beautiful Island (2017)

Most Beautiful Island (2017) is one of the interesting films of this year which you won't seee in a cinema near you. Presented in festivals, awarded at SXSW & distributed by Orion (which came back i see) & Samuel Goldwyn films.
Ana Asenio is a director whose debut is very powerful. She is also a courageous actress. She is Spanish but the film is shot in New York, on the mean streets. She is Luciana, a struggling immigrant who finds a job at a mystery party.
A realistically shot thriller, which reminded me a a bit of  13 Tzameti (the original), but in colors, and with feminity and feminism.
3 1/2 or 7 out of 10 !

Most Beautiful Island (2017) e unul din filmele interesante de anul acesta pe care nu le puteti vedea in cinema. Prezentat in festivaluri, premiat la SXSW si distribuit de Orion (care vad ca au revenit !)
Ana Asenio e o regizoare debutanta de mare forta, si o actrita si mai si. Ea este spaniola dar filmul e filmat in New York, on the mean streets, despre Luciana (Asenio), o emigranta cu probleme financiare care isi gaseste o slauba la o petrecere misterioasa.
Un thriller filmat realist, care aduce un pic cu 13 Tzameti (originalul), dar in culori, cu femininatae si feminism.
3 1/2 din 5, 7 din 10 !

Cannes 2018 announced

En 2018, pour sa 71e édition, le Festival de Cannes aura lieu du mardi 8 au samedi 19 mai. Il commencera un jour plus tôt mais aura une durée identique aux années précédentes. L’ouverture aura donc lieu le mardi 8 mai en soirée et la remise des prix le samedi 19 mai. « Après l’édition-anniversaire de 2018, le Festival ouvre une nouvelle période de son histoire, déclare Pierre Lescure, son Président. Nous entendons renouveler le plus possible nos principes d’organisation, tout en continuant à interroger le cinéma de notre époque et à accompagner ses bouleversements. »

The Punisher is back !

after a stint in the 2nd season of Daredevil, Frank Castle is back on his own series !
1st episode features a mean song by Tom Waits, Hell Broke Luce, (on the hammer scene), from the appropiate (for The Punisher also) titled album, Bad as Me (2011).  iI makes death/industrial scene look & sound like pop wussies.

then we got Metallica''s One and on ep. 12, "Home a bit of bläckout dream before & in between the torture, a highly interesting and unusual song from Paul Weller, You Do Something To Me, from his album, Stanley's Road.1995. I must say I am not a fan of Weller really, or The Jam, but this song sounds like a classic Greg Allman, Bad Company/Paul Rodgers, Bob Seger, you catch my drift piece. Very weird to be included here. So, here it is-fabulous song:
