Jóhann Jóhannsson, the Icelandic composer of Denis Villeneuve films (Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners) found dead in Berlin at 48. He ws nominated for Oscar for “The Theory of Everything” and won the Golden Globe. for that film. A second Oscar nomination for 2015’s “Sicario” and Golden Globe (8th place on my soundtrack top of that year and the film in my top ten), BAFTA and Grammy nominations for for “Arrival” in 2016. Last scores, Mandy by Pan Cosmatos and Mary Magdalene by Garth Davis (Lion). He was a musician in his own right before that. He was supposed to score Blade Runner 2049 but was replaced by Hans Zimmer & Benjamin Wallfish (in my top ten soundtracks of 2017) for "creative differences".
RIP.

It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of our dear friend Jóhann. We have lost one of the most talented and brilliant people who we had the privilege of knowing and working with. May his music continue to inspire us.
