A fost asistentul lui Conrad Hall la The Professionals/Profesionistii lui Brooks
(1966) si Warren Beatty a vrut sa-i dea pe mina Bonnie si Clyde dar Jack Warner a refuzat: "Any cameraman that has not yet shot a picture is not going to shoot his first picture on my lot." A murit pe 31 mai, la 86 de ani.

Iron Maiden-The Final Frontier (1st new album video)
IRON MAIDEN are delighted to announce the premiere of the "Director's Cut" video for the title track from their new album, 'THE FINAL FRONTIER '. The album is due for release on August 16th and the video is an edit of the opening song on the album, entitled 'Satellite 15... The Final Frontier'.
The video was produced by award-winning production company Darkside Animation Films. Darkside's creative team includes animators who've created effects for feature films including 'Lost in Space', 'Gladiator' and 'Black Hawk Down'. The script was written by the director of BBC Radio's 'Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy', and the live action was co-ordinated and directed by Nick Scott Studios.

As well as working round the clock to turn out over three months of animation in eight weeks flat, the Darkside team developed entirely new technology to bring to life as never before Iron Maiden's mascot, EDDIE, in his new alien incarnation. A total of 141 shots combined live action with integrated CGI as well as full 3D animation, resulting in a complete running time of five minutes - that's over seven thousand frames, taking up to half an hour to render each frame!
Intriguingly, some of the integral footage was shot at Rendlesham Forest in Southern England, which is associated with The Rendlesham Forest Incident due to a series of reported sightings of unexplained lights and alleged landing of a craft of unknown origin.

am aflat tirziu, pe 11 iulie, cautind ceva pentru topul de remakeuri proaste re: Poseidon. Nu cred ca am ratat eu stirile, cred ca pur si simplu nu s-a dat nicuna.
Ok. Sa zicem ca Ronald Neame avea 99 de ani dar uite ca nu numai eu ma pling:

Meanwhile, there is not a line that I could find about the passing of a true giant of British film: Ronald Neame." John Farr
Neame e un nume legendar in filmul britanic. Cinema din familie, tatatl sau fotograf si mama actrita 9a jucat in La Roue a lui Abel Gance!). A inceput ca asistent de camera la Hitchcock in Blackmail in 1929 (primul film englez sonor !)
si a fost operator la Emmerich si Pressburger (One Of Our Aircraft Is Missing) si Noel Coward (In Which We Serve), apoi producator pentru David Lean si co-scenarist la Brief Encounter si Great Expectations; finalmente a trecut la regie in 1947 cu Take My Life. Nu a fost regizorul original la Aventura lui Poseidon (1972), film pentru care in mod ironic e cunoscut, dar a luat 5% din incasari ceea ce l-a facut sa nu mai aiba probleme financiare tot restul vietii. Filmul meu preferat al sau este Hopscotch cu Walter Matthau (1980), si am revazut recent la tv (TCM ?) sau pe dvd The Odessa File, cu Jon Voight si Maximilian Schell, un thriller cu nazisti din 1974 dupa romanul lui Frederick Forsyth. Si am scris depre Gambit (1966), un film atit de bun incit nu am scris nici un cuvint despre regizor !!! CBE in 1996 ! Autobiografie in 2003, "Straight from the Horse's Mouth".
