Composer Francesco De Masi, who scored well over 200 motion pictures during his career in the film industry, was born in Rome on January 11, 1930. De Masi's father was active in politics and served as Italy's ambassador to Romania, but De Masi showed a talent for music in his youth, and as a teenager he studied composition at San Pietro a Maiella in Naples under Achille Lango, who was also his uncle. When Lango was contracted to write music for a motion picture, he hired De Masi to serve as his assistant while working on the project, and the young man became fascinated with the process of making music for the movies. After completing his studies, De Masi moved to Rome to pursue a career in the cinema, and in 1951 he wrote his first film score for a documentary entitled Fiat Panis. De Masi wrote and arranged music primarily for documentaries during his early career, but in the '60s and '70s he became known for scoring Westerns during the height of the "spaghetti Western" boom, including such cult favorites as Il Pistolero di Arizona (aka Arizona Colt), Ammazzali Tutti e Toma Solo (aka Kill Them All and Come Back Alone), and C'e Sartana...Vendi la Pistola e Comprati la Bara (aka Sartana's Coming, Get Your Coffins Ready). However, De Masi's repertoire represented an eclectic variety of horror films (Orgia de los Muertos, aka Terror of the Living Dead), wartime dramas (Quel Maledetto Treno Blindato, aka The Inglorious Bastards), crime thrillers (I Familiari delle Vittime Non Saranno Avvertiti, aka Crime Boss), "sword and sandal" epics (Ercole l'Invincibile, aka Hercules the Invincible), and all other sorts of pictures, and though the bulk of his music appeared in Italian or Spanish productions, he wrote the score for the popular Chuck Norris vehicle Lone Wolf McQuade
and worked with Basil Poledouris on music for the Judd Nelson comedy Making the Grade. When not busy with his career in film scoring, De Masi led and conducted several major symphony orchestras in Italy, and was a gifted horn player; his discography includes recordings of major works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky. De Masi died in a hospital in Rome on November 6, 2005, after a battle with cancer.

The prints come from the national film archives of Kazakhstan, Hungary and India. They were restored by the Cinematheque of Bologne / L’Immagine Ritrovata.

Iron Man 2 (2010)
tocmai m-am intors de la vizionarea Iron Man 2, la care m-am dus pentru Mickey Rourke si AC/DC, nurii Scarlettei puteam sa-i vad si dintr-o poza. Dar la fel e si cu Mickey si cu AC/DC. Mult asteptatul soundtrack la care n-au contribuit cu nici o piesa noua) consta intr-o piesa la inceput (Shoot To Thrill) si una la sfirsit (Highway to Hell cred).
Filmul pare a fi cel putin sloppy asamblat iar Rourke e wasted, pacat !!! pentru ca el chiar s-a chinuit sa creeze un personaj...cu accent rusesc, tatuaje si pet bird (Birdie Num num ?). Despre metodele lui audio am aflat de aici (Crazy si Rehab).
Mandarin after credits am auzit, ca noua scena nu ne-au dat-o :( -ca embargo)
rectificare; nah, e Thor si ciocanul sau, am vazut pe youtube. Ca filmul ala, e , deh, gata. Mandarin cica o sa fie bad guy-ul din 3.scutul lui cpt America intr-o scena (la fel ca in primul film), un cameo Stan Lee as...Larry King, o gramada de piese de mambo jambo si un score de John Debney compus in 4 zile (se cam simte..:(), am auzit de reshoots dar nu stiu cite de multe au fost...

B-est day 3 (& 4)
dupa La merditude des choses am vazut finally dar pe ecran si cu sunet de ploaie frumos, Caravana cinematografica de Titus Muntean, dupa Ioan Grosan, proiect drag lui Titus din facultate. Si al doilea sau film dupa Examen, la o distanta de aproape 10 ani de cind l-a inceput pe primul. Filmat pe ploaie de Vivi Dragan, in sat la Savirsin, e in oglinda cu Nunta muta ca gen, dar rezultatul e unul mai apropiat de un film cehesc (desi satul mi se pare arhetipal cu personaje evreiesti-Fiddler on the Roof- sau din Cehov). Am probleme cu pacing-ul, cu faptul ca se da filmul rusesc de razboi si cu inca un element de final pe care n-ar trebui sa-l vedem, dar vreau sa citesc si nuvela lui Grosan, ca sa ma lamuresc cit a inventat Titus. Actorii buni, mai ales Mircea Diaconu, Doru Boguta si Gioni Georgescu, plus debutanta Iulia Luminare.

ARTmania Festival 2010 prezinta sase concerte importante in Piata Mare in zilele de vineri si sambata, dar si evenimente alternative in weekendul 13-15 augsut unde publicul are acces in baza biletelor sau abonamentelor valabile pentru Piata Mare. Biletele si abonamentele sunt disponibile in reteaua magazinelor Germanos, Carturesti, Diverta, Vodafone si online, pe www.eventim.ro si www.myticket.ro adaugand la preturile de mai jos comisionul de ticketing in valoare de 6%. Pana la 30 aprilie, biletele si abonamentele pot fi achizitionate la pretul de 70 RON pe zi si 110 RON pentru abonamente. In perioada 1-31 mai: 80 RON pe zi si 140 RON pentru abonamente. 1 iunie – 12 august: 90 RON pe zi si 160 pentru abonamente. 13-15 august: 110 RON pe zi si 180 RON pentru abonamente.

ieri s-a dat in deschidere Gloss, sau Glyanets, din 2007, directors cut, 118 min si azi fug la Dom durakov (Casa nebunilor) din 2002(premiul juriului la Venetia) si apoi Gigante in competitie.

huh, am plecat dupa 20 de minute de la Dom Duralov, prea dur-a-kov, cu metafore, filmari video si method acting rusesc, Stansislavski checkhen style, and Bryan Adams didnt help at all (do ya really love a woman, fuck u) .. Caru cu bere pe lumina ist besser...
later on Gigante e mai ok, cu tricouirile omului cu Motorhead, Biohazard si concversatia in the dark la balcon cu Barbu, am impresia somehow we were the only ones that laughed, pina la final un Kaurismaki uruguayan...

Everybody's Fine (2009)
Everybody’s Fine e remake-ul american la Stanno Tutti Bene de Giuseppe Tornatore (1990), cu un tata pensionar vaduv care se duce sa-si viziteze copiii mari si dezamagire si singuratatea sa, cind acestia par a nu avea timp pentru el. Cu Robert De Niro, si "copiii sai", Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale, si Sam Rockwell. De Niro joaca un rol de gen Jack lemmon, un om obisnuit intr-o drama gen superiorul About Schmidt. Un film trist, si despre singuratate…facut cam decaf de americani si regizorul englez (& scenarist), Kirk Jones, autorul lui Waking Ned Devine si...Nanny McPhee...

RIP Dede Allen
Monteuza (suna aiurea dar cum sa zici in romaneste), ok, film editor Dede Allen a murit duminica 18 aprilie la 86 de ani. Este una din cele mai legendare din Noul Hollywood (anii '60), a lucrat indeaproape cu Arthur Penn, Sidney Lumet si Warren Beatty.
Nominalizata de 3 ori la Oscar (Dog Day Afternoon, Reds si The Wonder Boys).
